After being purchased 5 years ago in 2015. Owner Jeff Willoby set out to make the most responsive and turning cracker box race boat. Putting his 30 years racing knowledge to the test he assembled what you see today.
The race boat has seen a couple transformations in the last 5 years, the design has changed 3 times. The boat was formerly known as the Pro 42 Penalty Box. Even though this boat is now retired, There is one more Cracker Box being Born. Thank you for everything Jeff.
P-6 ORANGE CRATE
Sponsors:
The Orange Crate is a Westhaven hull and was built in 1963. It was first rigged up in 1967 by Art Fields and Bob Guffin's. Danny Mang then bought the boat in the late 60's.
It changed many hands throughout the years. In 2001 my brother and I bought the boat from John Fay as a bare wood hull. It was then sold to Jimmy Calton around 2010. Last year, I had the honor to purchase the Orange Crate back from Jimmy Calton. It's been a dream of mine to own and race a Crackerbox. My daughter Ellie and I made our debut race in April/May of 2022! We're looking forward to making new friends and racing many races with this amazing community of Crackerbox racers!

She use to be named the 86P ‘hot knots’ driven by David Hadden and owned by John Fay and Rick Frampton. Our dad Mike Brown had been into crackerboxes for a very long time and took me to lake ming to watch the races since I was 5 years old. My father always wanted a cracker box to drive, but passed away after bringing home our 1st boat.
After years of my brother and I having started families and settling into life, we re-lit the passion our father had for these boats and jumped in feet first. It’s been a blast so far and everyone is super welcoming! We have lots to learn but it’s great bringing all of the family together for weekends of racing
